Summer Camp Program

Summer Camp Staff (20 positions)

35 hours per week (Mon-Fri 8:30am-3:30pm)

Responsibilities include: Overseeing up to 17 children, tracking attendance, attending weekly staff meetings, initiating and actively participating in a variety of daily activities/games/projects.  Must be at least 15yrs old and available June 28th – August 11th. (Experience preferred).  

 

Briar Point Beach

Beach is open from 10am-6pm, 7 days a week from July 1st-August 26th.  Understanding and enforcing town/beach policies and town beach emergency procedures is an important aspect of all beach positions.              

 

Beach Manager (2 positions)

Part time.  Beach Managers will be required to work weekends and holidays during the beach season.

A Beach Manager is responsible for the entire operation of Briar Point Beach while he/she is on shift.  He/she will use considerable independent judgement while carrying out duties.  The Beach Manager will assist in the supervision of the Gate Attendant in maintaining the restroom facilities.  This is a position reliant upon accountability.     

 

Lifeguards (6 positions)

Part time.  Lifeguards will be required to work weekends and holidays during the beach season.  All positions are responsible for the overall safety, cleanliness and supervision of the facility. (Lifeguard certification required).           

 

Gate Attendant (2 positions) Part time.  Gate Attendants will be required to work weekends and holidays during the beach season.  He/she is responsible for the checking and monitoring of resident and non-resident vehicles entering the beach.  The gate attendant is responsible for all money collection, recording, and submitting all daily parking sales to the Beach Manager.   

 

Summer Basketball

Referees (5 positions) 

Scorers   (2 positions)

Both referees and scorers are required to work Monday-Thursday nights with occasional Sunday nights built into the schedule.  He/she must have experience as a either a referee or scorer and have the knowledge of the game of basketball.  He/she must be available for the entire summer (July-August).  He/she must possess strong leadership qualities.  Referees will be expected to run the length of the court for the entire game. 

 

Clean Team Supervisor (1 position)

29 hours per week (Monday-Thursday) under the direction of the Parks Foreman.  The Clean Team

Supervisor will be required to work from July-August during the summer season. The working supervisor is responsible for the entire crew while he/she is on shift.  He/she will use considerable independent judgement while carrying out duties and making decisions.  This is a position reliant upon accountability.  The Coventry Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the Comprehensive Community Action Program.  They hire and fund the clean team members.  Responsibilities: Willingness to be a positive role model for young teens.  Able to motivate and take part in the cleaning of Coventry’s streets, parks, schools, water access points, etc.

Supervisor must possess a valid Rhode Island Driver’s license.

 

Bus Driver -immediate opening

Part-time hours available

(day-time during school vacation)

(occasional nights & weekends)

 

Applicants MUST have at least a current Class C CDL, with both School Bus and Passenger endorsements, and valid Rhode Island School Bus Operator’s Permit (“White Card”). Applicant must pass all background checks, drug screening etc. Previous experience transporting children.
