TOWN OF COVENTRY
The Town of Coventry, RI seeks an Events Coordinator for the Parks & Recreation Department. Hours vary from week to week. This position coordinates special events provided and co-sponsored by the Town and works in coordination with the Parks Foreman, Recreation Coordinators, Administrative Personnel, and others. Plans, promotes and implements a variety of events with community-wide appeal and diverse themes year-round and seasonally; coordinates and oversees the specific details for event implementation including site plans, program components and activity schedules, equipment, staffing, volunteers, security, traffic control, and other logistics.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, and occasional weekends. Work includes assisting with the planning and execution of public programs. The assistant must be comfortable dealing with the public.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation, Tourism, Public Administration, or related field.
- Two years of paid experience in event and recreation planning and implementation in a public, private or non-profit setting;
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation.
