    The Coventry Town Council is currently accepting applications to fill vacancies on the following boards:


    We are looking for residents like you to help Coventry build a plan for the future to become the best community in Rhode Island. 

    Join our efforts to create a master plan for the future of Coventry.  We are looking for residents of Coventry with a desire, passion and commitment to make the community the best it can be through this planning effort.

    Your mission, should you choose to apply, will be to engage with the Town of Coventry residents, staff and consultants over the next 18 months to build a plan for the future that considers all aspects of the community and what it needs to become a great community over the next ten years.

    If you have a background, interest or experience in government, business, recreation, charitable, religious, environmental, educational, development or other organizations, professions or fields of study, your unique perspective and insight is needed to provide valuable input and contributions to this important process.   

    We are looking to develop a steering committee to support an update of Coventry’s Comprehensive Plan, a process expected to take place over the next 18 months. The committee should be representative of all areas of community life including business, professional, environmental, recreational, civic, charitable, religious, educational, and other fields in addition to citizens-at-large.

    Committee Member Attributes:

    You will work with people like you who have experience or a background in various fields that are important to community and local government including planning, transportation, conservation, affordable housing, public safety, economic development, natural resources, community engagement, and municipal government operations.  These people will share a deep interest in the specific needs and concerns of the other residents in your Town Council District and those of the community at large.  Most importantly you all care about the community and want to help make a difference.

    Attributes – what makes a good committee member?

    1. You have experience or background in community planning, policy, conservation, affordable housing, economic development, natural resources, community engagement, or municipal government or operations
    2. You have a deep understanding of the specific needs and concerns of your neighbors within your Town Council District
    3. You care about Coventry and want to help
    4. You have a vision for Coventry’s future, and are driven to support a thorough and inclusive planning process that maps a route towards that future



    1. Serve as a member of an advisory committee for the purpose of providing comments, advice, and recommendations to the planning team
    2. Attend 6 virtual steering committee meetings and 3 public forums (each meeting is assumed to be 2 hours long)
    3. Support the planning team with public outreach and engagement – leveraging your own networks (professional, neighborhood- or civic-based, cultural, faith-based, school, family, etc.) to increase awareness about the Comprehensive Plan update process and inviting residents to participate.
    4. Lead round table discussions at public forums
    5. Provide timely feedback on draft products/plan sections
    6. Potentially chair a steering committee sub-group/functional group to brainstorm potential policies and actions for specific planning topics
